Tip #1: Have your cat spayed or neutered
This can be quite a controversial subject among some cat owners, as some are for it and some are very against it. Unless you want your cat to breed with another one it is always in the best interest of you and the cat to have it spayed or neutered. A good time for you to do this is around 6 or 7 months old. Spaying or neutering will increase positive behavior in males and help cut back on the amount of unwanted litters.

Regular brushing of your cat's fur can help control knotting and matting, as well as controlling hair balls that your cat may get from licking themselves. Everyday you can sit down with your cat and comb their fur to keep the skin from getting sores and the fur from getting matted.

Making regular check ups can help decrease and sometimes even prevent serious health issues from happening. Some medical conditions and problems that arise can cost a ton of money; regular checkups can help keep you informed about the health of your cat.
Tip #5: Keep your cat inside
There are several things that can happen to indoor pets when they are allowed or even sneak outside; car accidents, rotten food, contagious diseases, dogs, and even people that hate cats put your cat at risk for several things. If you pay enough attention to your cat they will be just as happy inside as they are outside.
Tip #6: Feed them the right foods
It makes a lot of sense that if you want your cat to be healthy to feed it healthy food. Nutrition is plays a big role in the health of any pet. Don't feed your cat people food; they have a hard time digesting it and it won't do anything to promote health. Stick with the cat food that is made for them.
Tip #7: Know your medicines
Don't ever give your cat any type of medicine that has not been prescribed by your veterinarian. Even if it's something that was prescribed for them a year ago, it may not work the same or may have a different effect on them now than it did then. Always consult your vet for medical care.
