Himalayan Cats

Cats are a huge part of our society. They are everywhere. You can buy them at the pet store, from your neighbor, or go down to the pet shelter. How do you decide the perfect cat though? There are so many different breeds and then the breeds that are bred with another breed. Let's look into the type of cat called the Himalayan cat. They are interesting cats that are going to be perfect for some people.

Himalayan cats are basically a mix between Persian cats and Siamese cats. They are also known as Colorpoint Persians. The American name for the cats is Himalayan while the European name is Colorpoint Persians. They are actually put in the same category as the Persians when in a cat show. Breeders wanted the Siamese cat markings and the lend of the coat and the sweet temper of the Persians for their new cat.

Himalayas are also known as Colorpoint Persians.Himalayas are also known as Colorpoint Persians.

The Himalayan cats have long fluffy hair, just like a Persian cat. The breeders again wanted the beautiful hair of the Persian cat and so they created a new breed of cat. The body of the Himalayan cat is also again just like the Persian in that it is medium to large in size. It is built very muscular even though the cat looks fat. The legs are very short on the cat. The head is large with a sweet looking face. Almost like the look your child gives you when he wants something.

The Himalayan cat's coat is thick and long. The hair resembles the Persian coat. It is fine hair and is nice and fluffy. The agencies who determine the criteria for a cat allow many different colors.

Persian cats are the number one most popular cat. They have been ever since the Cat Fancier's Association started keeping track back in 1871. Himalayan cats are a part of the Persian cat group and so they play a huge role in making the breed the number one for years and years.

Breeders wanted the awesome temperament of the Persians in the new breed they were trying to create and so Himalayan cats do have much of the same temperament as Persian cats. Himalayan cats are very loyal and very loving. They are seen almost as the royalty of cats. When they were first introduced, the cats were what everyone wanted. If you are looking for a cat that says I'm wealthy, it is the perfect cat.

Himalayan cats take a lot of time to groom. You have to groom them at least once a day. The cats can't groom themselves and so they need their owner to do it for them. If the cat isn't groomed often, it will start to look horrible. It also won't be good for their health.

Himalayan cats are great if you are willing to spend a lot of time on them. They are cats that have the perfect attitude and that will be loyal and loving to you. They can start having breathing problems and have a high risk of kidney failure if not watched. Make sure that you take your cat to the vet often and that you make sure that the cat will be ok to have in your home. Many times cats aren't good for young children.
