Oriental Cats
With all the many types of cat breeds out there, it can be kind of confusing. There are so many great cats, but there are ones that you would want to stay away from too. To help you decide what type of cat would be best for you, let's look at some Oriental cats.
First off the Oriental Shorthair cat is one type of Oriental cat. It is also known as the "foreign shorthair." They are basically Siamese cats that were bred and don't have the specific characteristics that the agencies who define cats are looking for. They all put these cats into this category. Siamese cats are from Thailand and were imported from Thailand to Britain. It created a huge sensation and everyone wanted a Siamese cat.
The Oriental Shorthair cat is a very smart cat. They also bond very closely with people. Many people see their cats watching them and really looking like they are taking in what the human is doing. The Oriental Shorthair cat is just like that. They seem to be almost understanding what we are saying and doing and are really smart cats.

The Oriental Shorthair cat is a lot like the Siamese cat in the sense that they are very vocal. They will "talk" a lot and will be like a child who wants attention and will not stop until they get it. The Oriental Shorthair cat is also very loyal. They will follow you around and will act almost like a dog.
Siamese cats are usually very pointy. The Oriental Shorthair cat is more round. They come in many different colors and sometimes have more than one color. There are more than 300 colors available. Because there aren't many differences between Siamese and Oriental Shorthair cats, they will both sometimes compete in cat competitions under the same name.
There is another Oriental cat. It is called the Oriental Longhair. It is basically the same exact thing as the Oriental Shorthair cat but it has longer hair.
The coats of the Siamese cats, Oriental Shorthair cats, and Oriental Longhair cats are all like satin. They are not thick like the Persian cats, but they are thin. They again come in all different colors and are a lot more alike than usually thought.
Siamese cats were brought to Britain and were a hit immediately. They were just like the Persian cats in the fact that everyone wanted them. All three varieties that we talked about were the new thing. They were easier to take care of and were a complete change from the fluffy cat.
