Sphynx Cats

Most cats have lots of hair. There are some that only have a little bit and even less that have no hair at all. When you pick out a cat you want it to be perfect. You also need to know a lot of information about the cat before you just go and buy it. Here's some information on the breed called Sphynx cats.

Sphynx cats were first introduced in 1966. The first hairless cat was born. People had been trying to get a hairless cat for years. They have been thought to be all over the world but the first known successful breeding was in Canada. They were first shown in cat shows in the 1980s. Sphynx cats are also known as Canadian Hairless cats.

If you didn't guess it, Sphynx cats are hairless. They look like large rats basically. That can be cute or ugly in your mind, depending on you. They have large ears and are very pink. They are a medium size and are surprisingly muscular. They don't look like it but Sphynx cats are very strong. Their back is almost in an arched shape, more in some than in others.

The coat of a Sphynx cat is almost non existent. The coat feels like a suede material or like the outside of a peach. The coat depends on the color of the skin. The hair is almost not there and so the skin almost comes through to be a coat. Sphynx cats come in all sorts of colors. Sphynx cats are actually great for some people who are allergic to cats because they almost have no hair. Their skin becomes their outer coat and looks a lot like the fur would if they had more if it.

They still have to be groomed even though they don't have much hair. You need to give them a bath at least once a week. But be careful not to give your Sphynx cat a bath too often or their skin will become cracked and it will actually harm the cat.

Sphynx cats are very rare. They have only been bred for a few decades and so they of course aren't available to everyone. People who want them usually have to wait on a waiting list that breeders have.

Sphynx cats are very friendly. They are a lot like Siamese cats in the sense that they are very smart. They are great companions because of how friendly they are. They also like to play and run around a lot. They have a lot of energy. Sphynx cats show a lot of love towards their owners. It may not seem like it but they are very warm when you touch them.

Sphynx cats are not supposed to be outside. They are still very sensitive cats and aren't used to the harsh outdoors. Plus, they don't have much fur to keep them warm so they have to be kept warm and at a good temperature.

Sphynx cats are great for people who are looking for a cat. If you are looking for one, do a little more research about how they are around children. There isn't a lot out there since they are so new.
