Tonkinese Cats

Cats are great pets. They come in all sorts of different sizes and shapes. If you are looking for a cat, do your research. Make sure that you pick out a cat that will be perfect for you and your family. Remember, cats aren't very good for young children so check all the information you can before you buy one. If you are getting a cat, there are several different kinds to choose. Here is some information on the Tonkinese cat.

Tonkinese cats are actually a mix between Siamese and Burmese cats. Both have characteristics that define them. Many times breeders will mix types of cats to create a new breed. Many people believe that cats that are similar to Tonkinese cats have been around since the 1800s, but the cat breed has only been noticed for the past several years. The name actually comes from the musical South Pacific, where there is an island "where half-breeds suffered no discrimination." The name was originally Tonkanese but it was changed slowly to reflect the correct spelling.

Tonkinese cats are usually of a medium size. They have traits of both the Siamese and Burmese breed of cats. They are generally muscular but thin cats. Siamese cats are very thin and pointy. Tonkinese cats are actually heavier than they look but it isn't fat, it is muscles. They have very large ears and almost a triangle shaped head.

Tonkinese cats are very smart, just like the Siamese cats. Siamese cats are known for how smart they can be and it was passed on to Tonkinese cats. Tonkinese cats are also very loving and seem extremely interested in their owners and what they do. Tonkinese cats love jumping on people and love playing. They will have lots of energy and can sometimes start misbehaving if they aren't played with enough.

Siamese cats tend to be demanding, but Tonkinese cats aren't like that. They are calm and won't talk to you all day like a Siamese cat would. They will still talk to you some, but they won't be high pitched or have voices that might seem annoying to some people.

Tonkinese cats have many different colors. They are usually a mix of the Siamese breed and Burmese breed colors. They don't usually have as much of a contrast though. Tonkinese cats usually have a medium to short hair. It is usually very fine and almost feels like silk. The colors are usually mink colored, with another color mixed in.

Cats again are great pets. They are also great for shows. If you are thinking about getting a cat, make sure to look at all your options and what you really want in a pet or cat.
